Your
server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
When
checking your email using Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express you
may encounter the following error message:
Your
server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes
for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period
of inactivity. Account: 'mail.chilipepperweb.net', Server: 'mail.chilipepperweb.net',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
This
error can be caused by:
-
Anti Virus software scanning incoming and outgoing email messages.
- Firewall
and Internet Security Software.
- Your
computer has been disconnected from the Internet.
First
turn off your computer and your modem, wait 30 seconds then turn
these devices back on again and retry your email. If you experience
the same error please read on.
Email
scanning
If
you have client-side antivirus software, disable the automatic scanning
of email.
For
instructions on how to turn off incoming email scanning, please
refer to your programs printed documentation or online help.
Microsoft
has an article dealing
with this error, which covers operability of Microsoft Outlook
/ Outlook Express and common antivirus software.
It
is also worth mentioning that some anti virus software can change
your incoming POP server from mail.chilipepperweb.net to localhost,
127.0.0.1 or the name of your Anti Virus software, this needs to
be confirmed and changed back to the correct mail server.
Firewall
software and Internet Security software
Firewall
software and Internet Security software can also block your personal
computer's access to the mail server, this can beconfirmed by turning
off your firewall, (this can usually be done by right clicking on
your firewall's system tray icon and select the appropiate options
to disable/turn off your firewalling software. If you are running
Microsoft Windows XP you will need to confirm that the built-in
connection firewall is not enabled.
Other
Causes
This
error can also be caused if your dial-up modem was disconnected,
or network cable was disconnected. If this happens frequently, there
may be noise on your phone line, you may need updated modem drivers,
or an init string.
If
you still receive this error message when sending/receiving your
emails you will need to delete and recreate your email account.
